After 3 weeks staying with Val, Anthony, Janine, Lester and patsy in currumbin, I’m now back in my van at the park in Main Beach. Quite a tight park, so I’m currently being entertained by all the early arrivals trying to reverse into their sites. After a handful of overcast days, the weather is back to perfect – blue sky and 21 degrees. Long walk around Main beach this morning – unbelievable amount of building going on.

The house in currumbin was terrific. Close to the water but high up, so perfect for sitting on the balcony with book in hand watching whales – which I did a lot of. After 4 months on the road, it was nice just to sit around for a while. Plenty of whales to see and clubs and local shops within walking distance or by bus or Uber. Puppy parking at the shopping centre in Burleigh is one of the coolest things I’ve seen all trip.

The downside, so to speak, is that we were on top of quite a steep hill. Reminded me a lot of an apartment we had in Rome about 10 years ago, where we had to climb up 46 ish uneven steps to reach our apartment. Shock value at first, but it progressively got easier. Could have been worse. There was no backyard, so Val or Anthony had to take Pats down the hill every time she needed to go out. They got lots of practice. Patsy, sensibly, refused to go out with anyone other than Val or Anthony, right up until the last couple of days when she decided that I could be trusted after all.
A good proportion of the golf club is currently at the Gold Coast, playing in a vets tournament and otherwise escaping from the last of the Canberra winter. Caught up with them for lunch a couple of times. Chockers at lunch at Kurrawa on Saturday, so we thought we’d order via the phone scan system. Overly successful as the 13 of us ended up with 18 meals. Maur was the overall champion ending up with 3 Caesar salads, closely followed by AthalieDave with their multiple lamb shanks. Hopefully they are more successful in their golfing endeavors.

Tuesday I met Donna for lunch and caught up with all the Canberra news. Looking forward to catching up with everyone in person. I’m planning on leaving here mid next week and making my way home via the inland route. Hopefully I will have an appointment in Bathurst on the way home, but more on that later.
