My new traveling buddy

Jamie

Meet Wee Jamie. She’s an 8 week old West Highland White Terrier. This morning she passed all her vet checks so I’ve just confirmed purchase with the breeder, Jeanette in Bathurst. I’m planning to collect her next Saturday from Bathurst and then return to Canberra.

I was a bit concerned about arranging the purchase on line, but after an hour on the phone with Jeanette last week I’m now very relaxed about it all. She is an older women living on a property outside of Bathurst. I got her history and approach to breeding, detailed history of her recently deceased vet, details of the new vet in town ( local lad returning ) background on mum (Happy) and Dad (Angus) who run around with the chooks and play soccer with the grand kids, details of the puppy diet (including fresh meat as her farmer brother is having to kill sheep during drought), details on puppy health, shots etc and toilet training and finally, a comment that, unlike their dachsie or sheepdogs, the Westies “will mince meat a snake” . What more could I ask for?.

Anyway, at the end of all of that I was pretty convinced I was dealing with the genuine thing. Particularly when she only wanted a $50 deposit and then only once the health check was completed. This mornings conversation involved me giving her tech advice whilst she climbed to the top of a hill trying to get internet reception so she could send through photos. Bit of the blind leading the blind there.
