Rockhampton and Agnes Water

Westie walkabout

Rockhampton has terrible traffic but beautiful weather. Over the couple of days I was there it was 25 degrees during the day, no humidity and down to low teens over night. And no midges so I was able to sit outside for sundowners enjoying the dog walking parade around the park. Good food van selection with “the glory of Thailand” food truck selling “delicious Thai food” at the front gate.

My latest casualty

The photo is of the aerial connector off the side of my TV. The TV lives in a cupboard in the van and slides out and drops down when I use it. I had in mind that if I removed the TV from its bracket, then removed its back, I should be able to replace the connector. However my “you tube” research suggests that this involves checking circuit boards, re wiring the circuit board into this bit, cutting the replacement bit down to size and soldering it onto the TV. Hence. I moved to Plan B being a new TV which I purchased in Bundaberg this morning and successfully installed when I pulled up at Burrum River this afternoon .

Three nights at a beach side park in Agnes Waters on the way down. The park was full of a pedaling pensioner group -a bit like Amsterdam where you had to watch out for rabid cyclists whenever out and about – including one women zooming around on an oversized tricycle. Those not cycling were surfing as apparently it is one of the better surf beaches around. Listening to the radio on the way out today it seems this is a popular “pull up for winter” stop for southern nomads. Nightmares about budgie smugglers. And no food vans so I’m not overly persuaded.

Off to Caloundra tomorrow with the long awaited fixing of air conditioning scheduled for Monday.
