After a Sunday morning breakfast on the Cairns esplanade, MAJ and Nancye, with sad faces, departed for chilly Canberra. On Tuesday I headed back up the road to Port Douglas, and on Wednesday, met up with Belle, Deb and Tony at their very nice beach front apartment.

Thursday we spent a quiet day walking on the beach, wandering around the shops and lazing on the couch, before heading up to the local brewery for Thursday night trivia. After some excellent team work, we ended up running 2nd from 12 teams and collecting a $20 bar tab which we donated to the last placed couple on the neighboring table.

Friday was a bus tour up to Mossman gorge, the Daintree and Cape Tribulation. Only a dozen of us on a very nice bus, but, being last to be collected meant we spent the day being bumped around at the back of the bus. The highlight, for me at least, was a revisit to the Daintree tea house for another tropical fruit/barramundi lunch.

I spent the weekend at Mission Beach at a terrific park backing the rainforest. Mission beach was really nice, couple of pubs with music, heaps of cafes and coffee shops and a very busy Sunday morning market. Currently at Townsville for an overnighter on my way down to Airlie beach for a week
