After a quick trip back to Canberra, I’m now on the road again heading across the Hay plains with a view to rejoining my itinerary in Cowell on Friday. On my first attempt I made it as far as Parkes. It was 39 degrees when I arrived, so I did the same as everyone else in the park, shut myself in the van and turning on the air con. The next day was much nicer so I had a good look around Parkes including my first ( possibly last) museum of the trip.
Last night in Balranald where , while enjoying a quiet sundowner, I met my new, very chatty, best friend.
Her name is Ivy Pearl Smith, she is five years old, and they are two days into a six month trip around Australia. After a long day in the car and she was after a chat. I know her favorite color, the name of her friends and her schooling arrangements. She’s my new besty because, when we were exchanging ages, she guessed I was 20 years old. 😀
Today at Renmark. It took me longer to get through quarantine at the SA border than it ever has coming into Australia. I thought at one stage he was going to search my dirty clothes bag. Big afternoon on deck chair planned
